I used to be a rapidograph guy, and the clones. Formal cylinders, all business, the hypodermic flowing hard black India onto field book paper. Eventually I moved on to gel writers and random tubes with suspect ink. The other day as I rooted through and weeded pencils and pens and other arcane pieces of office litter, a soft shape reached out. Solid feel, swirled fine purple, gold bands. Highly deco feel. I knew what it was. Popped the top off, an engraved gold and steel tip. A bit of cleanup, fresh ink, the intimate dance of paper and pen, mediated by lush ink flowing effortless across fiber. WATERMAN.
