Can I avoid telling employers I am in Canada while interviewing for jobs?

Post Body

I have been interviewing with folks in the US for accounting jobs while being in Canada. This will be my first role in the US. While I don't want to hide anything, it appears that a large number of employers back away when they know I am in Canada. So my question is, do I really have to tell them that or can I get away with it? Considering I will be getting the paperwork for border officers done through an attorney I hire. What are your thoughts?
