So we want to take advantage of the iPhone JOD deal before it ends. We have 5 lines and want to get all of them on the new iPhones once they come out.
Due to our credit we are not eligible for $0 upfront yet, but will be in 8 months. Given that the JOD promo ends on the 8th this doesn’t work for us.
The option we have according to Twitter support and in-store rep is to pay a deposit to be able to get initiated into this program. Thats a deposit on a per line basis. Base iPhone would be a deposit of $300, any other will be $100-200 on top.
So with the setup we want, we would need to put a $1900 deposit.
iPhone 6 16gb $300
iPhone 6 16gb $300
iPhone 6 64gb $400
iPhone 6 128gb $500
iPhone 6 64gb $400
So lets say I get them all today, then next month I upgrade to the iPhone 6s. According to what I’ve read here the deposits would transfer over so no issues with that. The problem arises if I want to jump to another device within 8 months. Essentially that initial deposit is lost as I would need to pay yet another deposit for the new devices given I’m still within the 8 months and not yet eligible for $0 upfront.
After 8 months I have now payed a $1900 deposit and $632 monthly JOD payments for a total of $2532 and the phones are not even ours. I’m almost paying full price for 4 of the iPhones we need but I have to give them back when we jump.
Is this really the best option we have to get on this promo?
