Recently got on T-Mobile wireless home Internet customer service to get a new line. Service rep offers a Galaxy Watch 6, the smaller one as a freebie. I'm excited, say yes. I get it, it was shipped by UPS.

Now some background - I'm on another phone network, a mvno on at&t network. I pay $26/mo, including taxes for unlimited*. The first 30g's are fast 5g speeds, after that it slows down. But it is still fast enough to stream YouTube in 480/720. The service rep offers a phone home wireless plan for $100ish. I say that's more expensive than what I'd pay with my current service T-Mobile's home Internet. Well, I don't take the phone service, only the wireless Internet.

I get the package, setup the Internet device. Works without any hiccups from T-Mobile, just my dumbass unable to follow instructions properly. I'm setting up the watch. I realize that the watch needs it's own Internet connection to work without being Bluetooth connected to phone 24x7. Like if my phone is forgotten, I can use the watch for payments, a few compatible apps, calls, texts etc. Now, I'm wondering why would I take the watch because 3/4ths of its value is in being able to work independently of phone.

Well, the initial service rep said - the home Internet device comes with a phone number of its own and the watch works with it. I call T-Mobile customer service and turns out, it doesn't work that way. You HAVE to be in T-Mobile network for the watch to work, and the watch plan is actually a separate one. Alright, can I get a watch plan? No, it comes only if you have a T-Mobile phone plan.

My pain doesn't end here. I initiate a return of everything because this didn't sit right with me. I thought I could have made a mistake in hearing what the initial service rep said - so I go and hear the call recording. (Anytime any automation voice says that this maybe recorded for training and feedback purposes, I start a recording on my own end too), and sure enough the watch being able to work off the home internet's phone number was said. Anyways, I receive emails about returns which say either at T-Mobile store or at a UPS location. I check, and UPS store is only 1 mile away, and T-Mobile is like 2 miles away. I do T-Mobile store (reducing waste and emissions, hopefully) because it was open till 8pm and UPS till 7:30pm. Keep in mind it's still 6:30pm. Well, the T-Mobile store doesn't take the watch, covers and a charger because it doesn't have a store receipt, but takes the home Internet device. So, today I again had to go to UPS to return the watch, charger, cover.

Honestly, mistakes occur. I do not blame (except for the total piece of shit T-Mobile bean counter who created the store return receipt policy out of his motherfuckin ass loaded with shitstain) anyone, but me. I thought T-Mobile was supposed to be different from Verizon and at&t, and honestly my previous interactions have been pretty pleasant and the T-Mobile employees on phone or in store have all been really helpful, kind and patient.

But it turns out, T-Mobile IS LIKE Verizon and AT&T and does do shit like they do sometimes.

Just a heads-up, if you're looking for T-Mobile's home Internet and are new to T-Mobile, the watch will be nearly useless in its main capability of being connected to Internet and working independently of your phone unless your phone is also on T-Mobile, and the watch is a separate plan. You'll have to shift to T-Mobile, and I think it'll be somewhere near $100-125 a month for home internet, phone and watch plan, depending on what phone plan you choose.
