Weird remixes from a few years ago?

This was probably at least four years ago, maybe longer. There was some internet sensation of remixing songs by removing certain notes (every other note? Every fourth note? I can’t remember.) In the newsletter, the band linked to a couple of YouTube vids of some of their songs remixed the same way. (This was the only way I knew about the fad.) Particle Man may have been one of them? Does anyone else remember this? Been driving myself crazy for days trying to find them online.
