Let's talk about the player count, the price of the game, and titanfall 2.

Okay yes you probably down voted immediately. But that doesn't change anything.

We're all here for the same reason, we love (or at least play) Titanfall. Titanfall is 92% off right now on Amazon for PC, please let that sink in, it's less than a year old, and it cost $5. That's cheaper than most indie games.

We can attribute this to many things, mainly the player count. It doesn't exist, there's so few of us left. And lowering the price isn't helping. If I was someone who never played Titanfall I wouldn't think for a minute that a once 60$ game that now costs 5$ is good. You know what other game tried to increase their player count this way? Brink

Yeah, Brink. Remember? That online only, parkour based fps, with a multiplayer story mode about two opposing factions fighting to be free and fighting for control. It currently cost $2.80 brand new. And even then I wouldn't buy it. Sounds pretty familiar huh?

Titanfall had a lot going for it and even more going against it. It's Xbox and PC exclusive, immediately alienating one of the "Big 3". It had 5 game modes and no private matchesat launch when it had the most attention, and only 10 guns. While you may say, " We don't need are games over saturated with unlocks and slight variations of weapons." You're right. But everyone else does. I'm not saying there needs to be 100 different weapons but what people want and what is expected are two different things.

Now let's talk game modes (ooh controversy). Yeah 5 wasn't enough, but that was at a time when the player count wasn't struggling to exist. I love MFD pro, deadly ground, and WLTS, but there are currently 9 people playing a 2v2 game mode worldwide. Let that sink in.

I really truly love Titanfall, and that means I will be as critical of it as I can be if it means theres a chance in making it last longer. Now there's not much we can speculate on for Titanfall 2, or that it will even happen at this point. But if it does these are things I believe they need to focus on in both development and advertising.

Titanfall 2 will have to launch with at least 13 game modes(what CoD AW launched with) These can be pretty simple though. Take everything currently on the roster and add a hardcore playlist or two and some ranked play.

At least 3 of every weapon type (SMG, assault rifle, shotgun, etc)

More unlockable customization options. We live in the world of weapon skins, and csgo will continue to prove that.

A dedicated ranked playlist or playlists, from day one.

I think if titanfall 2 has all of this, flaunts it in advertising, and delivers the same level of quality gameplay it did the first time, then we will see this series thrive for a long long time. But from what I've seen happen to this game in less than a year, I don't know how likely that will be. But hey maybe I'm just pessimistic.
