Team strategies for pilot hunter

So, I've recently gotten a team together for capture the flag and last titan standing. its easy to plan strategies for these more objective game modes. But for pilot Hunter, it seems its all just run around and kill pilots and try not to suck.
I have a hard time wrapping my head around this mode. Not how to play it, but It's strategic hook and why anyone would want to play it. So does anyone have any strategies for this mode, other than the obvious?
