We are all collectively responsible for the whole tipping culture in the US. When we tip, we contribute to this vicious cycle of keeping employees paid fairly, while corporations get away without paying them enough. In order to make employers pay fairly, like the rest of the world and the rest of the industries, the tipping has to be greatly reduced or stopped altogether. This will initially create a lack of demand for jobs that require tips due to lower income, and because of lower demand, the wages will increase. That is how the economy works- it is simple math. Corporations may ultimately increase the price of services but cannot increase by much as it would affect their demand as well. I hope you understand the title now, and how we are not helping by tipping in the long run. Somehow the entire nation has to collectively take this initiative to stop tipping in an organized way. It would be difficult at first but once the whole system changes, it would be much better for generations to come.
