got off work after a long shift and just wanted something quick to eat so decided to go to Denny's since that's the only thing still opens at 3am in the neighborhood. I went in, saw there were 2 people working the dining room, no one greeted me, one waiter saw me and told me to pick a seat, I then ordered my meal that was supposed to have a ranch sauce and a toast but never came. I asked for them but the guy only brought me the ranch, and never did he come refill the water or ask how i'm doing. I quickly finished my food and asked for the check. I was instructed to pay at the cashier where the guy turned the pay machine over and showed the total number without a receipt for me to check. Then asked me to select how much tip (18% is the pre-select minimum). I felt so annoyed so i decided to reverse engineer the number and do the pre-tax 15% tip (i honestly didn't even want to tip for the lack of service and missing food item). The waiter didn't even say thank you and just gave me the receipt as if he didn't wanna talk to me. I will not be going back to that Denny's.

I'm absolutely disgusted by the tipping culture these days. It's an optional, not a given, I can't count the number of times when I don't want to tip a cent for the lack of service I receive at a sit down restaurant.
