- What do you think would happen if the people you deemed not worthy of service based on tip amount stopped going out?
- How long do you think your job would last if so many people suddenly stop patronizing your place of employment?
- Would you rather get 40% on.a $20-tab or 10% on a $100-tab? Considering all other factors as equal.
- Why did you pick your answer?
(Edit: Wow. I didn’t expect this to blow up. I’m glad that the answers have been pretty civil.)
Question in response: will you stop dining out if prices were raised by 20% and tipping was done away with?
Mod team needs to change this sub to “anti-tipping” because that is clearly their viewpoint.
Also they need to take a grammar lesson on “you’re” vs. “your”.
I love that non-tippers justify their crappy behavior by implying they represent some supermajority of all diners and are making a noble sacrifice to dine out above their means in order to keep struggling restaurants afloat.
Look, no one likes the concept of tipping. The only time anyone is happy about it is with those fringe cases where a server receives an outlandish tip. Let’s just agree to get rid of tipping and then we’ll see who can and can’t afford their lifestyles. Oh wait, then the non-tippers will just resort to complaining until their meals are comped…because that’s a great way to support businesses.
