Sorry if this question has been asked in here already. I literally just saw this group in my feed for the first time.
I guess it's more of an industry question, or something. But...
Why does the government just assume that restaurant servers make X% in tips based on sales, and charges them income tax based on assumed earnings that may not be realized?
Also, why is it okay for restaurants to adjust server wages against tips? Why is that legal?
