[TOMT] looking for “horror” film that was set anywhere from 1950s-1970s maybe

There is a young boy who lives with his abusive father. The boy has a young teacher who tries to help (I believe she was a pretty well known actress but I cannot think of her name or picture her in my head), and in the end, the boy has some kind of monster that had been tormenting him, kill his father. I think the movie was from 2010s-2020s, but again, I’m drawing a blank. I can’t think of any of the actors in it or any more information about it. It’s not Come Play or The Afflicted, which are the main movies that Google seems to think I’m looking for.
