Hello, all! Google has failed me, so I come to you for help.
I was briefly into comics as a kid, and I remember this one Spider-Man comic I had. This comic barely referenced Spider-Man, though I think you do see him in silhouette briefly in the beginning.
A hitman employed by Kingpin (referred to as Mr. Fisk throughout the comic) is called into the office late one night. We see this man kiss his family goodbye-they're all asleep. A car picks him up at his house, driven by a younger employee of Mr. Fisk. During the conversation, the hitman brings up being 18, and thinking he was invincible. The kid then says something like, "Man, I am invincible. I'm gonna live forever!" When the hitman is dropped off at Fisk's office, he shoots the driver.
We then follow him inside the office building, up to Fisk's floor, where after a brief conversation with Kingpin (I believe), Kingpin kills the hitman. We're then left on a cliffhanger.
As one can tell, it was a very dark comic, in tone and in art style. It truly struck me as a kid because of the brutality of it all. I think most of the violence was in silhouette, not explicitly gory, though I could be wrong.
I know this comic came out before 2010. If anyone has any follow-up questions they could ask that might whittle down the options, I'm happy to try and answer them! Good luck and god-speed!
