Since YouTube videos get deleted/hidden all the time I'm content that I may never find this video again, so I appreciate any help trying to help me locate it.
I believe I got recommended this video by the algorithm around early last year, the channel it was hosted on usually specialise in either competitive fighting game content, speedrunning or RuneScape content, but I'm not too sure as I was not subscribed, so it was a little out of the ordinary.
The video talks a little bit about the culture around games like Dance Dance Revolution in Japan and the underground competition scene but the narrative focuses on a particular player who frequented competitions for a while, contributing his high scores of insane difficulty songs on their DDR related forum but just one day stopped. I cannot remember much about the player in question but I remember he was a prominent user of the bar, which was not too common in the competitive scene.
In all honesty I find it really hard to remember specific details about that video but that is why I really want to find it again!
