I once saw that episode when I was in highschool (2008-2012), but I'm not sure what year it was actually released since I'm not from the U.S.
A young girl went out to buy meds for her negligent alcoholic mother, she witnessed a crime, I'm not sure if it was a robbery or something else, so the two suspects kidnapped and took her with them. The other guy wanted to kill the girl so the other shot his partner and took the kid and raised her as his own. They later lived as dad and daughter and loved each other. He was a pretty good dad, but then years later the team investigating the cold case found them and the guy died after being shot by the police team and the daughter was sent back to her mom.
It was a very sad episode and one of those rare pieces of media where I was rooting for the morally gray bad guy the whole time.
Please help. I want to watch it again so I can hurt myself.
Thank you!
