I remember watching this a few times, but I can't come up with a title or very many details. Probably the late 80's or early 90's. It's essentially the same plot device as the TV show "Early Edition", but this predates it. I'm pretty sure it's a movie though. Somehow a kid has or finds a television that shows news from the near future, a week or a day before it happens. The only scene that I remember vividly is that he threw away his family's canned goods (canned chicken perhaps?) because there will be an outbreak of listeria. They think he's crazy until later the story is on the news and this is how they discover what he has.
This could be an episode of an anthology show, like The Twilight Zone, but I really think it's a movie.
