Post Body

So, I am aware that this might be a total longshot, but nevertheless I'm taking the chance.

I'm positive I watcged the movie either in 2007 or before 2007, so the books (and possibly the movie) has to be older... and for some reason, I keep remembering the colors purple and pink, although I'm not sure if it's the book cover or if I'm simply remembering wrong...

I really don't remember either of them quite well, but I seem to remember that it was something about the boy having lost one of his parents, and I believe that the dog might have been there to help him process his grief? I don't think they mentioned outright that the parent died, but more like "my mom/dad is up with the Angels/not with us anymore" although now that I'm writing this, I seem to remeber something that the parent might bot be dead, and that it might be his dad? Something like "my dad hasn'tbeen home in a long time, but I'm sure he'llbe home soon"... although I can't remember if he does come home... iti don't remember it as this big adventure where a lot of stuff happens, but more the boy and dog talking about stuff... I also seem to remember something about the dog and boy being in his room or something most of the time? Also I might be mixing it up with something else, but I seem to remember that the boy is waiting for his dad to come home, and they might meet at the end?

I hope this is enough to find it!

EDIT: It was most likely a children's book, as I can't have been more than 9 or 10.
