So there was this band that was played occasionally over the speakers when I did overnight stock at a grocery store, and it’s very nostalgic for me. Most of the other music was classic rock (Sabbath, some Pat Benatar, Danzig, then going up to some Soundgarden and Stone Temple Pilots, for an idea of the ballpark that this band played in).
This band had a very loud, almost aggressive male singer who hit high notes, but the music (often acoustic guitar IIRC) was strangely relaxing. If I had to find a comparison for the sound of the singer’s voice, the singer for The Struts would be a very good match.
The one song that I can remember had lyrics themed around being stranded on an island, or miles out at sea or something, but it was centered around “you and me”. It had a tone of longing for the past and talked about making it back to shore, a metaphor for feeling lost without a specific relationship partner.
I know that the band’s name is a single word, and I also know for sure that they’ve done at least one Christmas song. Heard it last week, knew it was this band, and that started the torture of trying to remember their name lol.
I know it’s not much to go off of but you guys are absolutely amazing, so I have faith :)
Edit: As I think about it more, I’d probably scratch the acoustic part. I think they were definitely more of a rock and roll type band but the specific song I’m remembering was on the softer side. More concerned about finding the band as I’d like to explore them more, and once I know the band, finding the song should be very easy.
Edit 2: Absolute legend solved it. The band I was thinking of is Slade, and they even got the specific song I was thinking of, which was [Miles Out To Sea](https://.youtube.com/watch?feature=youtu.be&v=DvZVglUOXx8&utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf)
