realistic fiction book that takes place in a photography/art studio in the uk

my mom is trying to remember a novel that she read about a year ago. she only remembers bits and pieces (possibly multiple plot lines happening throughout the book?) but from what she can remember, it's realistic fiction and takes place somewhere in the uk. the main woman is in her 20s and she works in a photography studio (she might be living in an apartment at the art studio?) and the man who owns it is older and married but flirts with her. she has a boyfriend that also works at the studio, there's a scene with her and her boyfriend on a train. there's also a scene where she's with the older man and his wife and they go to some castle/cliff. another random scene; she buys herself a new coat and scarf at some point. at one point (it may be christmas time?), theyre at an event at the studio and the main woman feels underdressed in comparison to the older man's wife. that's all we can remember..unfortunately she cant remember the main plot of the story, only random scenes. does this ring a bell with anyone??
