Hi, i need some help. I read a book as a child, sometime in 1997-1998. This book had been published sometime in the late 70's to 80's. It was a standard "unknown child thrust in to greatness" trope. It's a kid's book. I remember the kid, who was a wizard's apprentice, had a companion who was a Brownie, which i guess was a type of Gnome. This Brownie had magic, but it could only do things with shoes. Summon shoes to drop on people, summon shoes to hide in, etc. He was very sensitive about not being able to do anything other magic. I remember there was a demon who could only tell the truth, possibly in rhyme. There was a man who was always described as muscular. "He flexed his muscular arms and blinked his muscular eyes", etc. I think the title had some sort of alliteration in it, maybe with M's. Magical Maladies....Monsters......something like that. Thoughts?
