Growing up in the early 90s we a book that was my dad from his childhood I believe, which was the late 70s. I could be wrong though, it may not have been from my dad’s childhood. He may just have gotten them for us, but they were definitely old in 1990. The spine had a partial picture on it which makes me think it’s from a collection or series that when lined up, show a bigger picture. There were also gold letters on the spine that may have said “children’s” something and maybe had a number on it? In the book were a bunch of poems and short stories. Some were very Shel Silverstein-ish. I remember these poems from it: “A peanut sat on a railroad track, it’s heart was all aflutter, the 5:15 came rushing by, toot toot, peanut butter” “Whatever one toucan can do, Is sooner done by toucans two. And three toucans, its very true, Can do more than two can do. And toucans numbering two plus two can, Manage more than all the zoo can. In short there is no toucan who can, Do what four or three or two can.” “The slithergadee has crawled out of the sea. It may catch all the others but it won’t catch me! No he won’t catch me, that slithergadee, he may catch all the other but he wo—“
