Years ago— no idea how long ago, minimum a decade, possibly two decades ago— I heard a song on public radio (in the US, Alaska specifically but I believe this was a national program). It was a guy singing live, acoustic, what I think was an original composition. It sounded like he was probably middle aged (or older) and black. The song was about watching other people deal with relationship issues and being very glad to not have to deal with them. The one part I most clearly remember was him overhearing people at a restaurant or in a coffee shop having to work on their "relationship problems" or their "marital issues", then they guy starts laughing in a rhythm, half between actually laughing and saying "Ha ha ha ha ha", the audience bursts out laughing, and then he sings the chorus, which is "'cause I'm happy (happy, happy) by myself."
Does anyone have any clue who this may be? I do not think this was a local artist or band, I think it was probably featured on a short program about this guy on National Public Radio. Thank you!
