OK, so I saw the film version on Netflix. Relatively recently. Within the last five years. The novel was probably published in the mid-aughts.
New England horror (sooooort of a similar feel to The New Daughter), a family's getting 'away from it all' and relocates to a weird, tiny town. Things start happening at night. Turns out there are underground people monsters who need medical help, and dad is coincidentally a doctor. I can't remember the name, and I'm looking to buy the novel the film was adapted from to see if it was any good. I've successfully hunted the answer down once before, years ago, but am not succeeding this time.
