I'm trying to remember a book I read about a brother and sister who trade places so the sister pretends to be the brother to be some kind of dragon rider while her brother goes off to be a monk at the monastery.
Another thing I remember is that the girl escapes from the school later in the book and the dragon sacrifices itself to protect the girl and then she sleeps inside the dragon guts so she doesn't freeze to death overnight because something about the world she lives in makes night extremely cold.
