This was on one of those "learning" channels. Either discovery or Nat Geo or one of those fake edutainment channels.
It was a documentary about what to do if some end of the world event happens, and it follows one family from los angeles to somewhere in the country.
It is not cheesy like most of those mockumentaries, its actually pretty frightening. The family is in the city for as long as they can stay, but run out of water and end up trying to get to the country. On their way out of the city, they get robbed for their vehicle and supplies. They're out of food and are forced to eat bugs and worms, their kid refuses to eat bugs and dies.
I just remember how awesome it was, but cant find it. There a ton of shitty similar mockumentaries, this one was so good.
