My high school art teacher had a print of this painting hanging up in her classroom, and I saw it nearly every day for three years, but I absolutely cannot remember the title or who painted it.
It depicted a man and a woman sitting on the grass. There was a small boat, like a canoe or kayak, visible behind them, that was pulled onto the grass from a body of water. They might have been having a picnic, but I'm not too sure about that.
The one thing that stood out to me at the time was that one of them, probably the man, was wearing a hat that was very light green, and the way it was painted seemed very flat compared to everything else. The yellow hats in Renoir's Luncheon of the Boating Party always remind me of the hat in this painting, except it was even flatter color than those.
I have trouble describing the style of the painting, as I wasn't as into art history then as I am now, but I remember it looking similar to some of the more realistic looking impressionists, or post-impressionists like Renoir. I could be completely off there, though.
I had posted this here before over a year ago and no one could come up with an answer, and I've searched for it plenty myself. My high school art teacher has retired and I don't have her contact info, so I can't just ask her. If anyone could help me with this I'd really appreciate it!
