Hi all, thanks for any help - bit of a long shot this one but you guys have surprised me before so here goes.

I saw this (at a guess) some time between 1995 - 2000, and I remember thinking even then that it was an old film. From memory, it had a 70's/early 80's vibe to it.

I switched over the TV as it was mid-film, so I only have the memory of this particular scene and I'm not 100% that I'm remembering correctly.

Scene was set in a typical rural American area, a glowing alien-like orb is floating past, goes into a house, goes into a bedroom and "absorbs" whoever it is in the bed. I seem to particularly remember that it was like they had been completely harvested of everything but skin and bone by these orbs.

Either related or not, I'm pretty sure someone went to investigate and found some sort of alien harvesting factory in one of the silos on the farm? I may have completely misremembered that part as I can only vividly remember that one scene described above.
