Looking for a book I used to love. I think it was originally published in German, but possibly a different European language. The plot was about this teenage boy who was amazing at stealing things. He gets found by this company that hires teens to travel to parallel/past times to steal and sell things. He and a few other kids get trapped in an alternate timeline where time is moving extremely fast and they have to get to a certain location by the end of the world or something bad will happen.

There's lots of different cultures/times that they encounter along the way and in the end past the end of the world is the birth of the world and they get back home. He also has this twin sister separated at birth who is kind of evil.

The edition I had was hardcover and had one of those covers with like stones embedded in it. I'd love to remember the name so I can find it and reread it.
