Well, this is probably a long shot. Frankly, I don't remember much about it myself.
It was a live-action TV series. I believe it aired in Sweden in the late 90s, but I'm pretty sure the series itself was in Swedish.
A man - possibly a climber - had fallen into a deep chasm which seemed almost bottomless and landed on a narrow ledge.
I believe there was a lot of ice. At one point, he inspects the wall of the chasm, and realizes that he can see through some of the ice, and there's a room on the other side!
This, sadly, is all I remember. I have strong memories of watching this show at my grandparents' house as a kid, and remember it whenever I think about deep pits.
