I used to play this old software (possibly considered a game?) where you could adopt a cat from a selection of colors, and then take care of it within the game window (this wasn't a fullscreen game, it was just a small window). You could interact with the cat by picking it up and dragging it with the mouse, and the virtual cat would interact with the cursor like it was a human hand. On the sidebar there were items that you could grab and drag into the window, including cat treats, catnip that would make your cat act all playful, a live mouse that would run around the screen (and into a hole at the bottom), and some other cat toys like yarn I believe? The background to the game and window was gray. I'm pretty sure my parents had this on a floppy disc.
