I owned this book when I was about 7 (about 20 years ago), in which there was a timeline from the beginning of time (when we were fish before we evolved and all that) upto what HAD been the present day (early/mid 90s I believe). It really was a fantastic book but I cannot find it at home, nor can I remember the title so that I can replace it. I've not seen it for a good 15-18 years so my memory is hazy but it contains, particularly in the latter pages, a lot of figures from popular culture - I have a feeling Elton John was in it, and I'm sure that Elvis was. I think this was at the bottom of each page, but I am uncertain, but there were accompanying facts for many of the figures that appeared in the illustrations. Naturally, there was also a timeline of dates at the bottom. I really only remember the first years and the final years - the first years was the fish and all that (I am no scientist, sorry!) and the latter years were all these popular culture figures at a sort of evening garden party. I'm pretty sure the royal family were in there somewhere too.

Sorry for the really limited information - it truly was an amazing book that I would love to get my hands on again, though I seem doubtful that I am going to find it. Fingers crossed that someone has heard of it or can find it better than I have been trying! I can't forgive myself for forgetting what the cover even looks like!
