It's one of those old-as-the-internet stories written by a guy who initially worked his tail off shooting up the ranks at a huge company, to the point where he was managing a team of people at a pretty young age. The company got sold off or something though and there were mass layoffs, and everyone he managed was laid off as well as his supervisors, leaving just him, with no department to manage, and no one managing him.
He talks about how he would show up at like 11 every morning and leave around 3, and how he would mainly hang around answering people's questions about the industry because prior to this he was very well respected.
I think there was an incident with an HR person emailing him asking to come down to his office and see exactly what he did there, and I think he ended up escaping the building in some ridiculous way (like climbing out the window or something) and telling her that he had been in an important meeting.
Edit: Man That was fast, thanks!
