Ok this anime has bothered me not being able to remember what it was, what happened to it and sorry if i throw in things from other animes into what i am thinking of since plently so share a lot of things. Ok 1st off i can 100% confirm it did involve human pilots controlling giant robots just like the gundam series. I want to say this anime was shown on the FoxKids program block because i was very young at the time and I don’t believe Toonami was around back then or i would have been awake by the time it came on. The pilot of the mecha suit was a man who may have been suffering depression because there was a flashback of him not showing any fear of death because he was in a knife throwing act and he was the person having the knives thrown at him his face showed he didn’t care if he was killed which did scare the knife thrower who i remember being a woman. There was a animal hybrid girl who may have had a crush on the pilot because he wanted to train to detect enemies better he had asked her to hide in bushes and let him sense where she was and when he picked wrong she rushed to get to the area he said she was at and she pretended he guessed right which actually upset him because it would have meant he failed in actual combat. I believe before that training what made him want to do that was he was in a battle and i want to say the knife thrower from the flashback was talking to him via headset and she used probably telepathy to sense the enemies he couldn’t see and would have killed him if she didn’t point them out so he could counter before they struck him.
