I remember seeing this in the mid-90s. I'm pretty sure it's low-budget movie about some kids who find a dinosaur. The only thing I really remember about it is a scene where some bullies are picking on the main character and a girl comes and fights them off, then reveals she had rocks in her glove. It may or may not have been a Republic Pictures release, with the eagle, from when they relaunched in the 80s and 90s. It's a live-action film.

This has similarities to Eragon (2006). A young man finds a dragon egg. Foes are fought off... as the survival of the dragon is critical. A mainstream movie, which is very good.
