Hi all, posted this before but had no luck.
When I was a kid I read a book that was probably aimed at the 10-13yr old market. It was about human-type small creatures (think gnomes/goblins sized) who lived in homes in large trees or brambles I believe. I recall there was some sort of darkness or evil animals (spiders or similar) who were coming more into their territory. There were no humans in this book as far as I recall. It was quite a dark/mature book given its audience.
One part I recall is there were siblings (either twins or just siblings) and one was killed by the creatures, and if I recall it was quite a gruesome death - lacerations etc. It's annoying me that I can't find this. Thank you!
