Now, I may be talking out of my ass here and imagining things, but there was this series (I think trilogy) of strategy games which may have been pretty popular, but I can't remember the name.
Now, these games pretty much looked like this: you started on a map that looked like a board game (with little toy boats and tanks and stuff) and there was a currency you had with which I think you could drop in new units) and when you got into battle, the game would go into a normal RTS view like World In Conflict).
I think one of the maps was the Korean Peninsula. If I'm not mistaken, the game had a "Red vs Blue" thing going for it, with one side being blue and the other red, but I might be lying.
