Damiana love liquor

Hello everyone. I’m like really new to herbal extractions and what not and i have some questions. I’ve been wanting to make some damiana liquor for myself to try out and then maybe gift some to my cousin who’s to be wed in September. I’ve been looking at this recipe on the interwebs and I was wonder if if it would be ok to treat the herb extraction as a tincture ie leaving it for a longer period of time then the article requires shaking the jar daily etc and then adding the honey water and bottling then aging for a bit.
