Yeah $1k is about $3800 in today's money so quite a bit more relative...as for 'where' to find them...I think in 1980 you could still use the classified ads to get people to bring you all kind of baseball card collections without even knowing they were rare or all that collectible, it was still a time when it wasn't really on the radar until the 'boom' about 5 years later.
Very true but he taps into some kind of magic memory hole for boomers!

An adult buying these in 1952 would get some funny looks :) but it will be well worth it! And remember the Mantles are only in the series 6 packs!
