A few days ago I had my boyfriend order some stuff from his Amazon account since he has prime. I asked him to get lash wash and cones (since I can't roll a joint for the life of me) but he also ordered some lights and some vitamins. He told me that they were coming today and to keep an eye out on the porch. Earlier in the day I was with his mom and she had received a message from him. She didn't open it all the way so she just read that there was a package he was expecting and it needed a signature. She asked "did he message you about this or tell you about it?" And I said no but figured it had to do with the cones or the vitamins he got. She told me to keep an eye out for it so we didn't miss the package since it must've been important.
Later in the day the cones, lash wash, and lights had arrived but no vitamins. I waited awhile until I saw package van roll out of our driveway. His mom got to the door and brought the package to me. We live with her so we get the mail for each other a lot. I opened the package and found a white box with some nice writing on it. For some reason I thought, "Must be some nice vitamins, they look fancy." When I opened that box I come face to face with a little box wrapped in some tissue paper. My stomach hit the floor. I realized it's a ring box!! I JUST OPENED THE BOX TO MY ENGAGEMENT RING!
I immediately felt really bad and put the cover back on. Thankfully I didn't actually open the ring box so I haven't seen the ring yet but there was no denying that THIS was an engagement ring. I knew that my boyfriend had been dropping hints at an engagement in the near future so I figured it was only a matter of time but I didn't think it would be so soon!
I messaged him right away and said "I'm really sorry but I think I accidently opened a package you got for my birthday(not wanting to give away the fact that I knew it was an engagement ring). I didn't see the actual gift but I opened the box." He messaged back saying that he told his mom to not let me see it. He wasn't upset but was rather amused. I felt bad for spoiling the surprise but ultimately I was on cloud 9. He came home and started laughing right away. He tried playing it off but could tell by my giddiness that I knew what was up.
His mom apologized a lot and feels bad but we aren't upset by it. He confirmed that he's proposing soon though! And I'm very excited despite ruining some of the surprise of our soon to be engagement.
TL: DR I opened a package that contained my engagement ring and ruined the surprise
