This happened a week ago but I decided to share because she just finished baking another batch. My sister has a passion for baking and some how, no matter what recipe she follows, it always goes horribly wrong. This particular time though, I decided to trust her. I double checked the recipe and prepared everything sheâd need. Not long after, the cookies were done and cooling on the table. She tested it and went âOohh, itâs soft! See? Look!â I believed her and I took a couple off the pan. My first mistake was not paying attention to how hard it was to get off the pan despite her claims of greasing it properly. I took them to my room to relax and wind down with a nice kdrama on Netflix. I attempted to take a bite and realized that it was a job for my molars. Second mistake. I broke a piece off and took a chew. Or at least tried to. I couldnât chew it.
What do you do when you realize something is hard to chew? Of course, you try harder! I bit down with all my might on that God forsaken cookie and felt pain. I didnât want to disappoint her, so I continued to eat it. I put the cookies in a plastic bag and smashed it against the wall to break it into smaller pieces so that it would be easier for me to eat. I sucked on the pieces to make it softer so that I could eat it. It eventually became a chore and I threw them away without her noticing. After a while, I had a major toothache. I had a broken tooth in my mouth for 8 years (only the root was left so I just had a gap and a bit of the outside of the tooth in my mouth) but it never bothered me in any way. I always took good care of it so that my parents wouldnât have to dish out the cash for me to see their dentist. A few days later the pain became unbearable so I took myself to the clinic to get prescribed something for the pain. The GP was shocked to hear my little tale on what happened and why I never got it checked out sooner. She saw no issues with the area and referred me to the dental clinic to get it removed. My country has free healthcare so cost wasnât an issue. It would be my first time ever going to see a dentist.
The following week rolled around and it was time to say goodbye to my loyal buddy. I got an X-ray on my mouth and lay in the chair while listening to Ego. It was done in a flash and I didnât even get to see the little guy when it was done. I felt as though I gave birth and the nurses handed my child up for adoption as soon as I popped him out. I was sad and Iâll never let my sister forget what her cookies did to me. As she announced that she was making cookies again I looked my brother dead in the eyes and said âWelp, Iâll go book your dental appointment!â
A fun little addition to the story- my brother took one of the cookies and placed it against the door post and tried to break it. He used all his physical strength but the cookie didnât even crack. We dropped it in the trash and it sounded like we dropped a brick in.
TL;DR - Made the mistake of eating my sisterâs bricks- I mean, cookies and ended up having to have my tooth pulled
