This year has been the hardest for me and my family. Earlier this year, my grandmother passed away (doctors suspect it was from COVID and other underlining health problems) and my family is still reeling. It threw everything out of whack because every year for any major holiday (Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter, etc) we get together at her place and have a huge dinner. Note, she cooked all of the dinner alone while some of us just brought homemade dessert. And before you say anything, no, itās not because we were too busy to help her or because we didnāt want to help her. My grandmother was a strong and stubborn Southern woman. The most help she accepted from us in the cooking process was adults getting whatever was being cooked and then sheād spend three days cooking.
Anyway, so the question became where do we go/what do we do now for holiday dinners? My parents decided to have a small gathering at my auntās place. So it was just me, my parents, my aunt, uncle, and cousins. It was nice. But this is where the FU comes in. I had misjudged how much my stomach could handle (because I hadnāt eaten breakfast and had and super small ālunchā so I was hungry) and managed to down two plates of food and dessert too fast. The last time I actually ate like that, my parents and I were at an all you can eat seafood buffet where my parents and I paced ourselves through about 4 hours of eating and had to walk off the extra weight afterward.
My family and I were having a good conversation but I knew I was way too full to be laughing. All I was hoping was that I wouldnāt throw up. But thenā¦it happened. I burped and threw up at the same time all over my section of the table. I was embarrassed and ran straight to the bathroom. I was in there cleaning myself up for a good ten minutes. When I came back, the mess had been cleaned up but I still cleared the table and sanitized the whole thing before going to hide in one of my cousinās rooms in pure embarrassment. It was never brought up again when we got together for a small birthday for my youngest cousin.
TL;DR I ate too much and too fast at dinner and suffered the consequences of gluttony
