So I’m New to the Reddit thing please forgive me if I’m not doing this right.

I work in a factory that sharpens and ships knives to restaurants, supermarkets, etc. Today they had me working pack out. This means I take the boxes with the numbered tags, find the tag with the associated number, and make sure that the boxes gave the correct count and go on a cart with the associated route.

There were some boxes that came down in a red tray. This means their not associated with the current cart we’re looking at, and I need to find their correct spot. It took a bit but I got all the red trays in the boxes and began putting these boxes away.

I get to one of the last ones and fall to look at the back of it. I do not see the freshly sharpened tip of a steak knife poking out the bottom. I sure as hell felt it as I basically slapped the box, then tried pulling away which only opened me up more.

I was more surprised than anything and I thought it was just a long cut. Until I moved my fingers to make sure they worked as is the protocol in my head. A hole in between my pointer and middle finger and I saw into my hand.

It wasn’t too deep of a stab, however it was bleeding, and I could see into my hand. I immediately began to panic hardcore because I play violin and was worried that 12 years of practice had just been wiped out. Thank goodness for my supervisors who calmed me down mid panic session and wrapped me up so I could keep working.

It happened hours ago and I’ve cleaned it twice so I’m ok in that aspect. Down side is now I have to keep my hand in an Italian hand taking gesture in order to keep the wound from opening again. And I have work in 4 hours and I can’t sleep.

TL;DR I didn’t look and impaled my hand on a knife at work by accident, now I’m stuck using a hand gesture to keep it closed and not sleeping for work in a few hours.
