( This happened yesterday) To preface, I (22 F), come from a Catholic family that is more conservative in lifestyle but not conservative politically. I also practice Catholicism and like to dress in goth fashion and paint my nails black. I also wear a cross normally with my outfits that symbolizes that I am a Christian. ( this becomes more important later in the story.)
Due to coronavirus, I have been shopping online for new summer clothes as my ones that I’ve had previously don’t fit me as well.
I came across a very cute black shirt and dress from another young woman in my country on reselling site, and bought them, not thinking much about her shop’s name.
Fast forward to yesterday, and my father comes in from getting the mail, saying in a concerned tone I have a package from (shop with occult name) and he was very concerned about me.
At first I was very confused... then...
OH SHIT. ITS THE DAMN CLOTHES I ORDERED.
We proceed to then get in an argument about the package which then caused me to point to my cross I was wearing that day, and tell my dad that no, I am not into devil worshipping ( but if someone else is a satanist I really don’t give a fuck because spirituality is personal), I just bought two items that have no religious regalia on them to wear in the summer.
I then open the package and he changes his tune, seeing that the contents are not representing anything that would make him uncomfortable.
My mom and I later laughed about the incident and said it was just my dad getting old and not understanding that yes, I’m still a Christian and I dress in goth fashion.
I think that Coronavirus has gotten to all of us.
TL;DR Conservative dad thinks I’m no longer Christian because of online order I made without looking at the shop’s name closely.
