I’m writing this account while taking refuge in the only area of my apartment that isn’t covered in the hellish substance that is currently ravaging my body’s autoimmune responses: the toilet.

This fuck up began 7 days ago after the European travel ban went into effect and my parents came back and went into quarantine. I was not allowed to enter the quarantine zone since I’ve had severe allergies and asthma my entire life so I’ve had to move in with my mom for a few weeks.

All of this happened within the span of a few hours and I was working when the decision was made so I was unable to pack any clothing for the move so my brother brought a few of my things for me but grabbed my dirty laundry instead of any clean clothes.

After realizing this I began loading my laundry. Now in the past I’ve had similar experiences with detergent but thought it was because the chemicals they used were too harsh. The detergent I used was a very bougie detergent that’s supposed to be “all-natural” but is really just overpriced tide pods with some essential oils thrown in that your neighbor Karen won’t shut the fuck up about.

Later that night I had one of the worst outbreaks of hives I’ve ever had, my body was covered head to toe in pure itchiness that had no relief in sight. At this point I hadn’t put two and two together and stupidly washed the rest of my clothes and sheets in this shit and for the past week I’ve been wondering why I’ve been having such bad allergic reactions and frequent asthma attacks until around 1am today when I checked the detergent and realized I’m allergic to a number of it’s ingredients and have been bathing in a soup of allergens that are on every single surface I touch. I haven’t been able to sleep all night and am sulking in the restroom until the supermarkets open and I can get some non-skin destroying detergent.

TL;DR: After having to move due to the pandemic, I used a different laundry detergent to wash all my sheets and laundry that I am extremely allergic too.
