This happened about 10 years ago when I was in the 4th grade, but something made me think of it today.
Basically at lunch recess we would go out and make snow forts on the playground. These snowforts were made of massive snowballs we rolled up and placed in a wall like fashion. Normally the balls would sit in a position where we could move them the next time we went out if we wanted to change anything.
One particular recess in late February, the temperature had worked its way up to a balmy 33 degrees and we took advantage of it rolling the biggest snowballs the school had ever seen because the snow was sticky and prime building material.
We had gotten a ton of balls in line, however one was placed wrong and was actually inside the forts interior wall, creating a small gap Inbetween the misplaced ball of snow and the already built wall. We were called in before we could move it so it sat there all night.
Overnight the temperature went down to the negatives, and by the next recess it had only warmed to about 21 degrees. We dressed up, went outside and tried to move the misplaced ball only to find it was frozen solid to the ground. Even with 9 4th graders pushing we could not move the ball. So disappointed we went inside, and the next recess went out.
I had a classroom with a direct window to the playground and what happened next is possibly the best moment of my elementary life.
A girl from the 5th grade class got up on our snowfort and started walking along the iced over wall of balls. She was a bit obese so it didint look good from the start. She than proceed to slip and fall Inbetween the misplaced ball and the main wall. A bunch of kids rushed over and tried to get her out (she was on her side) to no avail. The recess lady soon tried to help by moving the ball, which was impossible. Soon the kids got called in and the girl was all alone until the janitor came out with a sledgehammer and destroyed the snowball.
Needless to say it made my day.
TL;dr I built a snowfort and a girl got stuck for about 40 minutes in the cold.
