TIFU By lying to my family about bedbugs to get out of work

Post Body

So I 22m have always been incredibly lazy. I'm also way more distant than I should be with my family and am not around them anywhere near as much as I should. My grandmother is the complete opposite of me. Up early and working hard her entire life all while being a damn great matriarch to my entire family.

But I'm lazy little asswipe, so when I got a call from her a couple weeks ago asking if she could pick me up to help her get some work she was struggling with done around her house, I lied and said "Sorry Grandma my roommates and I think we might have bedbugs and are getting the house sprayed" She replied "oh well then I'd better call your dad. Good luck maybe I'll catch you another day."

I said I loved her and I'll help her out another day after it's all taken care of. (Next time I absolutely will I was just a depressed and lazy shit that day)

Well, this tiny lie has completely blown up in my face cuz now my parents won't even hug me or let me in their house at all. Ugh that's exactly what I get for not just helping my dear old Granny.

TL;DR I lied about having bedbugs to get out of helping my grandma, and it turned out to be the one and only lie I have ever gotten away with telling my family. Now I not only missed out on what's always a great day of yard work followed by my granny feeding me, I also didn't get any hugs from any of my family :'(

UPDATE: I'm headed to mow my grandma's lawn and make her feel special on Tuesday :)
