TIFU falling for Tinder scam

Post Body

So I just realized that Iā€™ve fallen for one of the most heartbreaking and wallet draining scams out there. For me I can spot a scam within a mile away but this one was something I didnā€™t expect I would fall for.

It started when I was so down and desperate for a relationship that I went through finding true love on tinder. Iā€™m not a very attractive person and but I can cook and I have a nice personality, anyway I went through a week without making a match and ended up paying to go for premium. I ended up with a match, she wasnā€™t that much attractive on her pictures and that I can see that she lives near my place. We chatted and I was feeling a connection with her to the point that Iā€™m contented to uninstall Tinder and talk to her on a different platform. I was hoping we could talk via sms and call each other but she told me about Whatsapp. Me not having the right state of mind because I was having a geniune affection with her, went ahead with talking more through there. After a few days of talking about our future she started to talk about crypto and asked me if I had experience with it. Me being a know it all said yes and bragged that I invested in some coins but I lost some. She then started talking about how I lost since I was looking at a long term investment, apparently she was showing me her transactions, her so called ā€œprofitsā€ and a car that she bought with them ā€œprofitsā€. This was a red flag for me already, but I donā€™t know I was caught off guard already because of my feelings for her and that there was a part of me that wanted to see her. Eventually she gave me a website to go through (ā€œNOT SURE IF I CAN POST IT HERE BUT I AM WILLING TO POST IT FOR AWARENESSā€) and she told me about BWU. Iā€™ve checked more information about this coin but it wasnā€™t showing any information on coinmarketcap but I gave it a chance since she was guiding me through investing just $100.

So on the website it shows that fake coin and youā€™ll have to wait for 60seconds or 120seconds to make a profit. Well long behold after a few minutes of talking to her and having her ā€œguideā€ me through all the steps and process we ended up with $130. I was able to ā€œwithdrawā€ it from the scam site to my wallet and it was fun but after that within the next few days she was telling me about the market being good and that we can make thousands. Guilable me ended up making a deposite, eventually she wanted to join me and made a ā€œdepositeā€ of her own on my account on the scam site.

Here we are, both of us made a ā€œprofitā€ of 2000 USDT and I was ready to make a withdrawal but was told that we broke their ā€œrulesā€ and that my account is going to get frozen. I was then advised to make another account and need to make a deposite of 20% of the old accountā€™s balance to activate the new one. Me panicking and her telling me she also has money into it reluctantly deposited and apparently everything was transferred. But in order to withdraw all of it we would need to trade and so we did. I followed her instructions and ended up with 21000 USDT, by the time I was going to withdraw I was told that I needed to pay taxes for the IMF another 17% of the withdrawal amount. At this point I already realized it something else, made me question a lot of things already. At this point Iā€™m already thinking of killing myself since Iā€™ve lost a lot already because of this. My friends and family they told me about this but I was so invested because I felt that she was real and thatā€¦ I donā€™t know Iā€™m broke emotionally and financially.

TL;DR , I got scammed because Iā€™m desperate and lonely, never think with your heart and hopefully someone learns from my experience

Word of advice as soon as a potential match starts talking about investments or being down on their luck shut it down. They aren't interested in you or your heart but in your wallet.

Ugly or not no one GAF about investing when looking to date. And if they ask to move to another platform especially if it's whatsapp the answer is no! Tell them you will use another way to text after you meet in person .
