Obligatory not today, but over 20 years ago when I was just a wee lad.

I wasn't allowed to watch TV as a kid, so I would fill that need by going to my friend's house and watching TV there.

One day they had the Teletubbies on and I watched an episode. I honestly don't even remember if I liked it or not, but it affected me nonetheless...

I started having a reoccurring nightmare, you know those really fucked up weird ones you have as a kid when your brain doesn't know how to process new information, so it gives you an AI generated adjacent type of A24 movie in your dreams.

This is how the dream went, one that I had for months on end.

I'm on the second floor of my parent's house looking out into the garden when I see a little green head pop out from behind a tree, a Teletubby! It would slowly look up until we made eye contact, then it would teleport/zoom directly up to the window on the other side of me and just stare. Then it would melt through the glass while brandishing a dust pan and hit me with it.

I don't know if anyone else has experienced this, but have you ever had a dream where you get hurt in the dream and feel it in real life? I would feel a sharp pain in my back where the TT would hit me and wake up screaming. I couldn't tell my parents what I had dreamed because that would involve telling them I was watching TV at my friend's house, so I would pretend I didn't remember and go back to sleep.

Rinse and repeat once or twice a week for months, making my parents wake up and comfort their screaming child because they watched a single episode of Teletubbies.

TL;DR I watched an episode of Teletubbies and would have fever nightmares about them invading my house and beating me with a dust pan.
