TIFU by betraying my college roommate's trust and exposing his infidelities to his long-distance girlfriend. Let's call my roommate Charlie. Charlie was in a long-distance relationship with Emily while we were roommates in college, but he cheated on her with multiple girls throughout our time together. I learned that Charlie also talked trash behind the back of every girlfriend he had, including Emily.

Years later, Emily and Charlie broke up, and she asked me for advice on whether she should get back together with him. Unable to keep Charlie's infidelities a secret any longer, I told Emily everything and advised her to run and never look back.

Now, I feel guilty for betraying Charlie's trust (coz some guys say I broke bro code) , but I stand by my decision to protect Emily from further harm. It's also essential to be aware of how someone talks about their partners behind their back, as it can be a warning sign of infidelity or other toxic behavior.

TL;DR: I exposed my college roommate's infidelities to his long-distance girlfriend and advised her to move on, even though Charlie talked terribly behind the back of every girlfriend he had.

EDIT: I couldn't post this in AITA due to their guidelines, but I'm confident that I made the right decision in exposing my former roommate's infidelity. Looking back, I regret not being honest with Emily earlier and wish I hadn't been afraid of getting caught up in the drama.

To clarify, I want to add that I was not personally invested in Emily's situation. I barely knew her and had no romantic interest in her. However, I believe it's important to prioritize honesty and respect in all relationships, regardless of personal investment, and to be aware of warning signs of infidelity or other toxic behavior.

Fuck the bro code. Stick to your own moral compass and boundaries like you did. Anyone who cheats does not deserve any respect nor sympathy.
