Tl;Dr: My TSH was 2.02 around 80 days ago. Today it is (supposedly) 6.8. Is this even possible? I have had no symptoms in the interim. I suspect that today's results may be an error.
Details: On May 15 this year I got my routine comprehensive bloodwork done in the US, through my university. All parameters were normal, including TSH, which was 2.02. I have since returned to my home country (India) for the summer, and consulted a dermatologist about improving my facial skin (dryness etc). This was purely for aesthetic reasons. He suggested that I test my TSH and T3, T4 levels to be sure that it's not related to an underactive thyroid. MIND YOU, IT'S NOT AS IF MY SKIN HAS RAPIDLY DETERIORATED OF IN THE LAST COUPLE OF MONTHS (it's been a problem for much longer), NOR HAVE I BEEN SICK IN ANY WAY RECENTLY.
Nonetheless, I still did the tests (actually I'd totally forgotten that I'd done the same tests 80 days back, or else I don't even think the dermatologist would've recommended retesting since there is no health problem as such). So I got tested again in India today, and the TSH value came back to 6.8.
My question is: absent any other symptoms, can TSH shoot up by so much (over 3x) so quickly in barely 2.5 months time?
